Bible Verses To Get You Through: Anxiety

As y’all know from previous posts, anxiety is the hardest cross I have had to carry in my life. It is something that I struggle with everyday, but by the grace of God it has gotten easier over time. Reading these amazing verses has enabled me to view my anxiety in a new, Christ-like way. Focusing on it, not as something I will most likely have to deal with my whole life, but as a cross that allows me to become more like Him through my suffering. The first passage I would like to dive into is Philippians 4:6-7, “Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by payer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Jesus tells us here that when anxiety begins to plague our lives, and we feel scared and confused, all we have to do is turn to God. All we have to do is ask with thankful hearts for His unending peace. Anxiety likes to make us think that the way to peace is so much more complicated than that, but Jesus reminds us that a deep breath, and a little chat with God is all we need to feel His loving peace. The second verse that always surrounds me in peace is 1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your worries upon Him because He cares for you.” In this verse we are told that all God wants is for us to lay down our anxieties, fears, and worries at the feet of His Son’s cross. God’s love for us surpasses all things. Think about the strongest sense of love you have ever felt in your entire life, now image that on an infinite scale. This is the magnitude at which God loves and cares for us. It is His love and care that calls us to give our anxiety over to Him. In times of worry, fear, and doubt, I pray that y’all remember and turn to these verses so that your hearts will find peace.

XOXO, MC
