Enduring Loss

In loving memory of Mac McLachlan 1981-2019

No matter who you are, or where you’re from, we will all endure the loss of a loved one at some point during our time here on Earth. Loss hit my family and our close friends hard this past week, and we were immediately struck with the question, “Why is this happening?" How could a life be taken so young and so unexpectedly. Our God wants us to be happy, right? So why would He allow us to go through the emotionally draining and devastating process of grief? We will probably never know the full answers to these questions until we too meet Our Father in Heaven. So then what do we do until then? How are we supposed to live the rest of our lives without this individual, and not even know why he or she was taken from us? It is in these moments when the virtues of faith, hope, and love must be our primary focus. We must have faith in Our God’s plan, and faith in the fact that for some reason, unknown to us, loss is apart of this divine plan. We must hope in the fact that our loved one is being held in the arms of Our King as we speak, and we can’t lose hope that one day we will be with them for eternity. We must show love to those around us and comfort those who are grieving. We never know the day, nor the time, nor the place we or the people we love could be taken from us. Every second of everyday is so valuable, not just because life is short, but because every second of everyday is a masterpiece made by Our King. God never throws us into a situation we are not prepared to battle. On the days when grief is running straight for us, fight back with faith, hope, and love, and I promise you that you will never lose.

XOXO, MC
