How to Get the Most Out of Sundays

Some Sundays are more beneficial than others. Some Sundays we go into church and we immediately connect to the readings, follow the homily, and feel really content with the message. Other Sundays the kid behind you is kicking the pew, there’s a bird tapping on the window, and you can’t follow the readings at all. On those Sundays I leave mass feeling guilty and disappointed. I wanted to get the most out of it, but my mind just couldn’t focus. Those Sundays are definitely the hardest. So what can we do to have as few of those distracted Sundays as possible? Something that has helped me immensely is journaling throughout church. Jot down the responsorial psalm, take notes during the reading, and right down the key points from the homily. Since I started doing this I have been able to follow the mass so much more intently, and get something out of every Sunday. There is a mass journal that is absolutely phenomenal called Every Sacred Sunday. The 2020 journal comes out in October so be on the lookout for its launch on everysacredsunday.com. This journal is amazing and allows you to closely read the mass so that you’re able to get the most out of it. But even if you don’t have the Every Sacred Sunday journal grab some loose leaf and a pen and start getting the most out of your Sundays!

XOXO, MC
