Making Life More Than a Routine

Updated: Sep 16, 2019

I feel like I am so guilty of this week’s topic. So often do I get caught up in the routine of life that I completely forget to enjoy it. Life is God’s biggest blessing to us. He allows us to wake up every morning and make the most of it, but sometimes we just fail to fully live it. We get into the routine of waking up, going to class, going home, doing homework, then going to bed and doing it all over again, or waking the kids up, getting them to school, going to work, picking them up, going to bed and doing it again and again. We all have our own routines, and sometimes, if we’re not careful, these routines can get the best of us. What I mean by that is we start to follow these routines so closely that we forget how amazing the life God has given us is. When we get stuck in these routines it’s easy for us to get sad and lonely. We can begin to feel like life has nothing to offer us except the routine we’ve gotten so accustomed to, but that is so far from the truth. God has promised us a life full of joy and happiness, and He’s just waiting for us to reach out of our comfort zone and live it to its fullest potential. The hardest part about a routine is that it’s so hard to break because it can be so easy to get caught up in one. We get so stuck on doing the things we think that we have to do that we forget to have a little fun. God wants us to have fun in this life! He doesn’t want our lives to be constantly filled with things that we have to do. He wants us to incorporate things we want to do as well. So grab dinner with your girlfriends, schedule a date night with your husband, take the kids to a museum, start a book club or bible study with your friends. This life God has blessed us with is so much more than a routine, so let’s start living it the way He intended it!

XOXO, MC
